Personal and small-business accounting.

MoneyKeep is a full accounting app for your desktop. Households get registers, budgets, reports and investment tracking. Small businesses and nonprofits get customers, invoices, bills, A/R and A/P, and sales tax.

Everything sits on one double-entry ledger, so the books always balance. Every change goes into an audit log and can be undone.

Everyday money

Accounts and registers: Checking, savings, credit cards and more, with split transactions and running balances.
Budgets and reports: Set budgets, see where the money went, and export any report to CSV.
Scheduled transactions: Recurring bills and deposits are entered for you on schedule.
Reconciliation: Check each account against its statement and find what doesn’t match.
Password-protected books: Books can be encrypted on disk, so a lost laptop doesn’t mean lost privacy.

Importing and bank feeds

Drop in a bank file: OFX, QFX, QBO, QIF and CSV files from your bank. Drag one onto the window or choose Import.
Review before anything is added: Imports wait for your review, and nothing reaches the books until you choose Add to books. Every import can be undone.
Rules: Teach MoneyKeep how to categorize payees once, and it applies the rule from then on.
Watched folder: Save statements into a folder and MoneyKeep picks them up for review.
Direct connections: Optional bank feeds through SimpleFIN and OFX Direct Connect, and brokerage feeds through SnapTrade.

Investments

Holdings and prices: Track securities, lots and cost basis across your accounts.
Gains and income: Realized gains, dividends and interest, with corporate actions handled.
Broker import: OFX investment statements and CSV, JSON or XML exports from your broker.

Small business and nonprofit

Sales: Customers, items, estimates, invoices with PDF, payments, deposits, credit memos and statements, with A/R aging.
Purchases: Vendors, bills, checks, purchase orders and vendor credits, with A/P aging and 1099 tracking.
Sales tax: Charge and track sales tax on invoices.
Classes, locations and funds: Profit and loss by dimension, plus fund tracking and statements for nonprofits.
Payment processors: Stripe, Square and PayPal payouts split into sales, refunds and fees, and matched to your bank deposits.
Expenses and receipts: Record expenses with receipts and turn them into PDF expense reports.

On your phone

Record expenses and business mileage on your phone as they happen. They go straight to your own MoneyKeep books.

Expenses: Amount, merchant, category, how you paid, project and purpose, with a receipt photo.
Mileage: Pick the vehicle and purpose, enter miles or odometer readings, mark a round trip, and see the amount at your mileage rate.
Works offline: No signal? Entries wait in the Outbox and send when you’re back online. Sent items are listed so you can check them.
Your own server: The phone app talks to the capture server that comes with MoneyKeep, not a third-party cloud.

MoneyKeep is in alpha. Back up anything you try it on, and don’t rely on it for your real books yet.
